TEK-Mate Perc Leak Detector
Reliable, Low-Cost Leak Detector for Detecting Perc Leaks
"TEK-Mate is a simple, low-cost tool found by the California Air Resources Board to be effective for detecting perc leaks."
(California Dry Cleaning Industry Technical Assessment Report, February 2006)
The largest source of perchloroethylene (perc) emissions is from leaks around the valves and seals of dry cleaning equipment. In an effort to decrease overall perc emissions, environmental regulations require large and small area source dry cleaning operations (as defined by the EPA Rule from 40 CFR63) to test for perc leaks monthly using a halogenated hydrocarbon detector. (The EPA defines a leak as 25 parts per million by volume.)
TEK-Mate® Perc Leak Detector is a halogenated hydrocarbon detector which uses a patented INFICON heated diode sensor that is extremely sensitive to perc. Simply turn TEK-Mate on and begin looking for leaks. As you search, TEK-Mate beeps once per second. When TEK-Mate senses a perc leak, the unit's LED light flashes and variable intensity audible alarm sounds. The faster the beep sounds, the bigger the leak you've identified.
